Gender-Based Abuse
Solution Women International Foundation strives to help women break the cycle of gender-based abuse and sexual assault, and to destroy all forms of human trafficking.
Several of our staff have experienced abuse and sexual assault, which provides personal insight into these issues.
When a woman has experienced abuse or sexual assault or has been thrust into human trafficking, the wounds last a lifetime. They are also intergenerational, occasionally leading to the children of those abused becoming abusers themselves. The SWIF team, with first-hand knowledge, strives to help victims overcome the trauma to realize their self-worth and potential, find resilience and transform their lives.
SWIF is developing programs to respond to these issues by:
Helping victims to tell their “Survivor Stories” of abuse, freeing them from the weight of their trauma, and offering hope to others who have experienced this violence.
Developing awareness campaigns to educate and shed light on sexual assault, human trafficking, and domestic violence.
Working to prevent human trafficking and exploitation of vulnerable people.
Engaging with victims and survivors, providing empathic listening, access to medical and mental health care, and legal assistance to protect them from further harm.
Supporting local governments and law enforcement to bring perpetrators to justice.
Working with families marked by intergenerational abuse to educate them on the de-objectification of and value of women as equals.
Providing access to safe shelter for women and children escaping from abusive situations.
Providing resources to the most vulnerable, particularly orphans and children in foster care to protect them from exploitation and give them hope for a future.
